Welcome Message

On behalf of our whole Organizing Committee and the EURASIP Leadership, it is our great pleasure and honor to welcome you at the 2017 European Signal Processing Conference which takes place on the Greek island of Kos from August 28 to September 2, 2017, and is held at the Kos International Convention Center.

Over the past two years the Organizing Committee and our Professional Conference Management organization MeetingPlanner.gr have been enthusiastically investing energy and time to prepare a high-quality international conference coupled with many networking opportunities and enjoyable social events. The result is a rich synthesis of plenary talks by internationally acclaimed researchers, technical papers in both classic and new emerging topics, tutorials and special sessions on frontier signal-processing topics and related areas, and a 3-minute theses competition. We are grateful to all members of the Organizing Committee, plenary speakers, authors, paper and tutorial presenters, area chairs and reviewers: they have all contributed to provide an exciting and up-to-date technical program of the highest quality. We also wish to thank all our sponsors, patrons, supporters, and exhibitors. In addition, the 2017 edition of EUSIPCO is proud to organize a full day of thematic workshops after the end of the main conference, which will provide a forum to participate in specific scientific events related to current innovative topics in signal processing technology and its extension to other fields.

Surrounded by the Aegean sea and rich in historic heritage, Kos has been a crossroad of many civilizations and was the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of western medicine, and his ancient school that combined medical research and practice with the philosophy of well-being. Inspired by its scientific tradition, we are excited to organize the conference on this island, particularly in these days that witness a dynamic growth of signal processing as an ever increasingly fundamental discipline, encompassing application areas ranging from communications to speech processing, from bioinformatics and image processing to big multimedia data and deep learning. Having been a gateway between East and West, Kos now offers a cosmopolitan mix of a vibrant city lifestyle, idyllic beaches, historic tours, easy access to other Greek islands and many other Mediterranean attractions. We hope that all of you will be enticed by the scientific and social program of EUSIPCO 2017 as well as attracted by the natural beauty of Kos and the surrounding islands to both enjoy this exciting event and keep it in your memories of the Aegean.
